Vietnam’s import-export turnover reaches USD 445.12 billion in the first five months

📊 VIETNAM’S IMPORT-EXPORT TURNOVER RISES SHARPLY IN THE FIRST FIVE MONTHS OF 2026

Vietnam’s goods trade continued to record strong growth in the first five months of 2026.

According to data released by the Statistics Office under the Ministry of Finance, total import-export turnover reached USD 445.12 billion, up 25.0% compared with the same period last year.

Breakdown:

• Exports: USD 215.66 billion, up 19.5%
• Imports: USD 229.46 billion, up 30.8%
• Trade balance: deficit of USD 13.8 billion

In May 2026 alone, total import-export turnover reached USD 99.07 billion, up 3.2% from the previous month and 25.8% year-on-year.

By market, the United States was Vietnam’s largest export market, with turnover reaching USD 69.6 billion. Meanwhile, China remained Vietnam’s largest import market, with turnover reaching USD 92.6 billion.

In terms of export structure, processed industrial goods accounted for the largest share, reaching USD 193.71 billion, equivalent to 89.8% of total export turnover.

On the import side, production materials reached USD 215.99 billion, accounting for 94.1% of total import turnover.
