🚢 U.S. FILES CRIMINAL CHARGES AGAINST DALI VESSEL OPERATOR AFTER BALTIMORE BRIDGE COLLAPSE

The U.S. Department of Justice has filed criminal charges against the operator of the container vessel Dali and a technical superintendent in connection with the collision that caused the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore to collapse in March 2024.

According to the indictment, which followed a federal grand jury decision on April 8, 2025, the charged parties include Synergy Marine in Singapore, Synergy Maritime in India and technical superintendent Radhakrishnan Karthik Nair.

They are facing a total of 18 criminal charges.

According to the U.S. Department of Justice, the incident killed six construction workers and caused at least USD 5 billion in economic damage.

The indictment also refers to pollutants released as a result of the incident, including cargo containers, fuel oil and debris from the collapsed bridge.

An FBI representative in Baltimore said the indictment reflects a series of alleged concealment actions and serious operational violations that increased risks to public maritime activity.
